Karen L. Blanchard, D.V.M.
Dr. Karen Blanchard graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1987 with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (D.V.M.) degree. She also received a B.S. degree from Oklahoma State University in 1983. Dr. Blanchard holds licenses to practice Veterinary Medicine in Maryland, the District of Columbia, Arizona and Oklahoma.
On a personal note, Dr. “B” is married and has two daughters, ages 15 and 16, who attend the local county schools. She loves to be outdoors, and contributes that to growing up in Oklahoma with its wide open spaces. She also loves to watch birds alongside her two cats; Maizie and Jazzie

Caroline Hrabak-Martin
Office Manager
Caroline has been with Fairland Animal Hospital since August of 1998. She and her husband, Rich live in southern Howard County and have been long-time animal lovers. They have eight pets: two dogs, Blondie and Scotty, five cats: Norman, Shuster, Kat, Mikey and Runt; and one Cockatiel named Busby.

Mary Klement
Head Veterinary Lab Technician
Mary has been with Fairland since 1999 as the Head Technician. She received a Lab Tech degree from Biscayne Paramedical, and has been practicing as a veterinary technician since 1975.
Mary and her husband live in Montgomery County and have two Norwegian elkhounds: “Ginny” and “Kaisai” |
Katie Covill
Veterinary Assistant
Starting at Fairland in 2003, while still in High School, Katie has a tremendous love for animals and a desire to have a life-long career working around them. She currently has one dog named Buddy and over eighteen tropical fish. She cares for many other animals by offering dog walking and sitting. She enjoys meeting new people and their pets.
Harriott Bethke
Receptionist and Veterinary Assistant
Harriott has been with Fairland Animal Hospital since 2002. Starting as a client at first, she loved what she saw the staff doing and asked to join in on the fun. She has been a wonderful asset to the hospital, and anyone who meets her can tell how much she loves animals. Her husband also helps the hospital as the main “Handy Man”. They live close by in Silver Spring, when not at the beach, and have almost too many animals to count!
Allison Bledsoe
Veterinary Assistant
Allison is currently in college studying Veterinary Medicine and has a love for animals.

Dorothy Rawski
Receptionist
After 30 years in the classrooms of Montgomery County, my second career brings me here to Fairland Animal Hospital where I help Dr. Whall and Dr. Blanchard care for your cherished pets. My husband and I live in Silver Spring with our four fantastic felines -- Scooter, Cheeto, Bella and Minouche. With any luck, we may soon add a canine to the family. |
Kevin Smith
Veterinary Assistant
Kevin loves animals and started with Fairland Animal Hospital in 2006. He is a local, living in Silver Spring and graduating from a local high school. He has a golden retriever at home named Caesar II.
Jessica Covill
Receptionist
Jessica is a part-time receptionist at Fairland, while still in high school. She loves animals and loves working at an animal hospital.
J.P. Landi
Veterinary Assistant
J.P. has been with Fairland since 2006 and is currently attending the University of Maryland. He plans to get a degree in Criminal Justice and apply this degree to help animals who have fallen victim to abuse.
Brittany Duckworth
Receptionist
Brittany loves working while attending high school and plans to train to be a veterinary technician.
Adam Malleck
Veterinary Assistant
A senior in high school, Adam started with Fairland Animal Hospital because of his love for animals. He has college plans and hopeful to be in the science field.
Dan Whall
Veterinary Assistant
Starting when he was about 10 years old, sweeping the floor for his dad, Dan has loved being at the hospital. Currently in a pre-vet program at the Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Dan still works when home for breaks! |
